Tarique Rahman has met Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka, his first family visit to the advisor’s residence since returning to Bangladesh last month.
At 7:28pm on Thursday, the BNP chairman’s flag-bearing car entered the State Guest House Jamuna, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman.
Tarique returned to Bangladesh on Dec 25 after more than 17 years abroad.
He had earlier spoken to Yunus by phone upon arrival at Shahjalal International Airport and met him briefly at the funeral prayers of his mother Khaleda Zia on Dec 31.
The latest meeting follows a string of recent contacts between the two.
On Jun 13 last year, Tarique held a one-and-a-half-hour private discussion with Yunus at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
Soon after, National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury announced that the next general election would be held in February 2026 once preparations were complete.
