Test-run begins for Padma Bridge Rail link project

Test run of a train "track car" began on the 32 km new railway line from Bhanga to near Padma Bridge under the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project on Tuesday.

The experimental train departed the Bhanga station at 10:00 am and travelled 32 km and reached the junction of Padma Bridge at Jazira around 12:30 pm, Padma Bridge Rail Station official said.

The train is built in a special shape known as "Gang-Car".

Out of these 32 km from Bhanga, four km un-stoned and 28 km stoned rail line has been completed. The target of starting railway communication through Padma Bridge is next June. The progress of Mawa railway station is about 85 per cent and the progress of the work on Padma railway station in Jazira is more than 77 per cent, reports BSS.

The 172 km long rail link project from the capital Dhaka to Jashore via Padma Bridge will be completed in 2024.
