Since its launch at the end of last year, ChatGPT has created quite a buzz among different spheres of people. People are speculating on numerous outcomes. Some are saying there will be no need for programmers, some are saying there will be no need for writers, etc.
But the community of writers is the most shaken one, no doubt. Because of words on the streets, with the coherent language of GPT, anyone can be a writer today. Is it true? Do we need no writer any longer? Can we write literature using ChatGPT?
First, 'No'. Second, 'Shouldn't'. Chat GPT can be a tool for writing, not a replacement.
Currently, ChatGPT of OpenAi is the most popular chatbot. The reason behind this fame is its coherent and human-like language. It will generate tailored answers based on previous conversations in response to your question.
You can also use it to write assignments, homework, stories, and even poems. Therefore, writers are worried about their careers being in danger.
But Chat GPT does not have the human touch; it is incapable of creating human feeling-infused write-ups. The responses ChatGPT generate do not have any emotion.
So imagine the scenario you are writing an article; it sounds like the texts of a textbook. Do you think readers will enjoy reading that?
As a writer, you can understand who will be your audience, and based on that, you can compile something targetting their attention.
Do you know how ChatGPT generates responses? Numerous books, human conversations, dialogues, information present on the internet, news, and articles are fed to it. Based on all these, GPT formulates its response.
So the answer given by GPT can be wrong. It can pick up data from the web but cannot differentiate right or wrong. And we all know what loads of garbage there are on the web. Also, you cannot expect to get the right answer without context, which GPT might fail to fully understand.
Coming to the next point, why you shouldn't use GPT in creative writing. The most important thing in writing is originality. Chat GPT creates things from the elements already present. Every time, it may be a different arrangement, yet the same generic information, words, modifiers, and sentences will be repeated.
The more you think and write, the more your creativity will flourish. That cannot happen if you use ChatGPT.
People may argue that GPT can produce creative stuff. Well, the creativity of an AI bot can never match that of a real human. Furthermore, GPT provides you with vague fillers in the content.
ChatGPT can be your useful tool in research activities, expanding your thoughts, and generating ideas. But using it in creative writing can diminish the quality of writing and your creativity.
A writer's identity resides in his originality. It is something no AI can provide you, however good it may be.
