Services & real estate sector cos see highest price appreciation

Listed services & real estate sector companies saw the highest price appreciation on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week, with the sector's market capitalisation registering an increase of 7.9 per cent.

Of the companies, Eastern Housing was the top gainer on the premier bourse.

During the week, the company's share price advanced 25.24 per cent to close at Tk 116.60 each on Thursday.

The company also made its way into the chart of top 10 turnover leaders due to investors' increased participation.

It posted a turnover of Tk 2.84 billion, accounting for 3.88 per cent of the total market turnover on DSE.

Meanwhile, the company has published its financial statement for the year ended on June 30, 2022.

During the year, the company's EPS (earnings per share) rose 48 per cent to Tk 5.88 from Tk 3.98 in the previous year.

The company's board of directors has also recommended 20 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2022.

Of other companies in the services & real estate sector, the share price of SAIF Powertec gained 3.35 per cent last week and closed at Tk 33.90 each.

However, the share price of Samorita Hospital and Summit Alliance Port declined 0.97 per cent and 1.72 per cent respectively last week.

The paper & printing sector saw the second highest price appreciation last week on the premier bourse and its market capitalisation rose 3.6 per cent.

Of the companies in the sector, Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing Company saw 24.06 per cent price hike and secured the second position in the chart of weekly top 10 gainers.

At the end of the week, the company's share price closed at Tk 230 each on Thursday.

Of other companies, the share price of Paper Processing & Packaging rose to Tk 233.20 each on Thursday from the closing price of Tk 232.90 each in the previous week.

The share price of Sonali Paper & Board Mills advanced 7.33 per cent or Tk 46 to close at Tk 673.6 each on Thursday.

Of the remaining companies, the share prices of Bashundhara Paper Mills and Hakkani Pulp & Paper Mills declined 2.11 per cent and 5.72 per cent respectively.
