IBBL arranges Banker-SME entrepreneur view exchange meeting

Barisal Office of Bangladesh Bank in cooperation with Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Barisal Zone organized Banker-SME entrepreneur view exchange and loan distribution programme in collaboration with all the commercial banks and financial institutions of the region recently in Barisal Club.

Fazle Kabir, Governor of Bangladesh Bank addressed the programme as chief guest. Presided over by Md. Anwar Hossain, General Manager, Bangladesh Bank Barisal Office the programme was addressed by Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal, Md. Sohrawardy, Executive Director of Barisal Office, Shaikh Md. Salim, General Manager of SME and Special Programs Department, Bangladesh Bank, Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam, Managing Director of Agrani Bank, Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury, Managing Director of AB Bank Limited, Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited and Muhammad Munirul Mowla, Deputy Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited addressed the function.

Senior executives and officials of various banks and financial institutions were present on the occasion. Mr Fazle Kabir distributed the loans among the 10 SME women entrepreneurs and 34 entrepreneurs in the programme, said a statement.

 

Mr Fazle Kabir said according to the policy made by Bangladesh Bank, at least 20% of the loans distributed in each bank should be in SME sector of which 50% will be in the cottage, small and medium sector. He also urged to prioritize industry and service sector to give more importance. He also said that at least 10% of the loans distributed by each bank will be reserved for women entrepreneur. This loan ratio will be increased to 15% by 2021, he added.
