Standard Chartered Bangladesh, in partnership with Channel i, has officially launched the 11th edition of the Agrow Award, continuing its longstanding commitment to recognising the individuals and organisations driving progress in Bangladesh’s agriculture sector.
Since its inception in 2014, the Agrow Award has evolved into one of the country’s most respected platforms, celebrating the contributions of agricultural pioneers from grassroots farmers and innovators to enterprises and institutions advancing sustainable and climate-resilient practices, according to a media release.
Over the past decade, 88 individuals and organisations have been honored for their outstanding impact on the sector.
As agriculture remains central to Bangladesh’s economy and food security, the 11th edition of the Agrow Award aims to further amplify stories of resilience, innovation, and leadership that are shaping the future of the industry and improving livelihoods across communities.
This year’s awards will recognise excellence across multiple categories, including Lifetime Achievement; Farmer of the Year (Male and Female); Resilient Small-Scale Farmer (Male and Female); Hero for Change; Best Journalist (Agriculture); Best Agricultural Organisation in Research, Innovation and Technology; Best Agricultural Organisation in Support and Execution; Best Agricultural Exporter; Best Climate Adaptation Solution; Rooftop Gardener of the Year; and Jury Special.
Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said: “Now in its 11th year, the Agrow Award continues to reflect the power of partnership and shared purpose in driving meaningful progress. We are proud to collaborate with Channel i on this journey and deeply grateful to the wider community for helping transform this platform into a source of national inspiration. Our awardees exemplify the innovation and dedication needed to address climate challenges and strengthen food security in Bangladesh.”
Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director at Channel I, said: "From its very inception, Channel i has been a voice for the land and people of Bengal. Fulfilling the dream of a developed Bangladesh is entirely unattainable without the advancement of agriculture. Our continued partnership with a prestigious institution such as Standard Chartered is a testament to our deep-rooted commitment to the nation’s agricultural sector. We take immense pride in the fact that, through this award platform, we are able to honour those remarkable individuals who continuously strengthen the country's economy through their intellect, sweat, and sheer hard work."
Shykh Seraj, Director and Head of News at Channel i, said: "Our farmers are the primary driving force behind the nation's economy and the true warriors of our food security. The manner in which they are adopting new technologies and driving innovation in agriculture, whilst confronting various global and local challenges—including climate change and the reduction of arable land—is truly commendable. For the past ten years, this award has been bringing the success stories of these indomitable grassroots farmers, growers, and agricultural entrepreneurs to the attention of the nation. I firmly believe that this recognition will further inspire the younger generation to pursue a profession in agriculture and help build a sustainable and smart agricultural sector for the future."
Applications for the 11th Agrow Award are now open and will be accepted until 30 June 2026. Submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished jury panel comprising local and international experts, academics, and industry leaders.
Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony later this year, the release adds.
