Bangladesh-China business summit held

With the goal of developing investment and commercial relations across multifaceted sectors, the "Bangladesh-China Business Summit 2026" was held on Saturday at the Crown Plaza Dhaka Gulshan in the capital.

Business leaders from both countries, along with key personalities from various sectors, including banking, exchanged views and discussed long-term partnerships and their potential, according to a press release.

The day-long summit was organized by the Bangladesh China Club Limited (BCCL). BCCL was supported in this initiative by the Global Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, China and the International Business Strategy Committee of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Business Federation. United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) served as the title sponsor of the event.

Key figures from China's investment, healthcare, manufacturing, renewable energy, trade, and education sectors attended the summit.

Muzaffar Ahmed, Chairman of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), was present as the chief guest. The special guests included Dr. Saif Uddin Ahmed, Administrator of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) and Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB). Adnan Masud, Additional Managing Director (AMD) of United Commercial Bank PLC, was also present at the event.

Speakers expressed hope that this summit would strengthen the relations of trade, partnership, and long-term financial cooperation between Bangladesh and China. Various sessions of the summit featured discussions on international trade networking, B2B business opportunities, investment, banking, and financial cooperation.
