Bangladesh Project Management Symposium and Excellence Awards-2022 held

The daylong symposium ‘Bangladesh Project Management Symposium and Excellence Awards 2022’ was held at Radisson Blu Water Garden in the capital on Saturday.

This year the event was based on the theme ‘Made by Bangladesh: Empowering and Accelerating Achievement’ which was hosted by the PMI Bangladesh Chapter aiming to honour the country’s project management achievements to encourage the outstanding project contributions of Bangladesh.

Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, minister of Industries, inaugurated the programme, according to a statement.

During the event inauguration, Annesha Ahmed, President of PMI Bangladesh Chapter, whole-heartedly welcomed the participants and expressed her gratitude. She also encouraged everyone to take part in the spirit of a successful event.

Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said, “Sharing the experience of successful projects in this programme would boost effective project management skill set in the context of Bangladesh that would, in turn, contribute to the growth of our national economy.”

He also expressed his high hopes that PMI Bangladesh would promote good governance of project delivery along with commitment and global standards in his inauguration speech.

Golam Murshed, MD and CEO of Walton Hi-tech Industries PLC Bangladesh, delivered the keynote speech pertaining to the definitive factors that determine the success of both local and global projects.

In the latter part of the event, chief guest Dr Shamsul Alam, state, minister for Planning, inducted the Project Management Excellence Awards 2022 session.

In addition, Md Shafiqul Islam, project director of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project, shared his precious insights and lessons learned regarding the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

Dr Srini Srinivasan, regional managing director (South Asia), Project Management Institute (PMI) and Prasanna Sampath Kumar, Region 11 mentor, PMI, also attended the programme as special guests of honour.

There were two panel discussions on Project Leadership in Crisis times and Sustainable Project Management – Road to achieving SDG Goals facilitated by AKM Luthfur Rahman, Rural Transport Advisor (STC), World Bank, Azman Ahmed Chowdhury, head of Business Development, WaterAid, and AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu, director, BASIS, Mohammad Hossain, Vice-President, Academic and International, The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh respectively.

Throughout the programme, multiple project management discussions were taken place along with energizing sessions, quiz contest and selfie contest.

The Project Management Excellence Award was handed over to the City Bank Ltd, Swisscontact Bangladesh, Institute of Information Technology (Dhaka University), TechnoVista Ltd, COATS Bangladesh Ltd, Bank Asia Ltd, RFL Electronics Ltd, Daahuk and ICT Division (Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh).

Development Design Consultants Ltd (DDC), One Thread and Social Marketing Company (SMC) were the gold sponsors and Shapla Agricultural Limited Company was the silver sponsor for this programme. On the other hand, 3P Consulting Limited, DaySpring Limited, and PM Expert Solution were associated as PMI ATP Exclusive Sponsor. The whole event was partnered by Link3 Technologies Limited.
