BKB gets Dr Mohammad Zahid Hossain as new Chairman

Noted economist Dr Mohammad Zahid Hossain, joined Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) as Chairman on October 20, 2024, says a press release.

Prior to this role, Dr Hossain performed his responsibilities as a Principal Economist at South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he oversaw Bangladesh Country Programming and Economic Analysis-related works.

Dr Hossain also worked as an ADB Consultant for a long time in the Ministry of Finance to advise senior officials on macroeconomic and sector issues. He started his career in Customs Cadre in 1979. He played a central role in the design, development and implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) in Bangladesh. He was also involved in the coordinated reforms of indirect taxes in the country.

Dr Hossain obtained MA (Economics) from the University of Dhaka and also MA and PhD from the University of the Philippines. He participated in a number of seminars and workshop at home and abroad.

Dr Hossain comes from a respectable Muslim family under Moulvibazar district and is the proud father of two children.
