The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved the procurement of one spot LNG cargo and 30,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser involving Tk 10.82 billion.

The approvals were given at a meeting of the committee with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Chowdhury in the chair following proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and the Ministry of Industries.

Under the first proposal, the committee approved the purchase of one LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) cargo for the delivery window of August 15-16, 2026. Singapore-based Vitol Asia Pte Ltd emerged as the recommended supplier by offering the lowest evaluated price of US$22.35 per MMBtu.

The total contract value for the LNG cargo stands at Tk 9.49 billion, inclusive of Advance Income Tax (AIT).

It also approved the procurement of 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) for the first lot of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The procurement will cost Tk 1.33 billion, with the fertiliser priced at US$357.25 per tonne.
