Covid-19: Chevron distributes 8,800 relief packs to communities

Chevron’s Bangladesh companies have implemented a multi-phase relief distribution effort to help communities living around Chevron’s gas fields in Bangladesh.

Between May and July, Chevron planned and distributed 5,500 relief packages for families of three unions under Nabiganj Upazila, located near the Bibiyana Gas Field, reports UNB.

Shahnewaz Milad Gazi, Member of Parliament for Nabiganj-Bahubal along with Biswajit Kumar Paul, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Nabiganj was present at the programme.

Meanwhile, in Sylhet, 3,000 relief packs were distributed amongst families of two wards near Jalalabad Gas Field.

The official handover event was held at the offices of the Sylhet City Corporation, which was represented by Ariful Haq Chowdhury, Mayor and Dr Zahidul Islam, Chief Medical Officer, among others.

In Dhaka, 300 packs were distributed amongst underprivileged children of nine charity schools (“Kushum Koli” schools) run by the Social Welfare Committee of the Dhaka Ladies Club.

Chevron’s Bangladesh Corporate Affairs Director, Ismail Chowdhury attended the Dhaka event, during which he handed over the bags to Fyzunnessa Muna, the Club’s Social Welfare Secretary.
