Syed Manzur Elahi, chairman of Apex Group, has been nominated for 'Lifetime Achievement Award' of the UK-Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI).
The prominent business personality got the laurels for his outstanding contribution to the country's banking sector, investment and employment generation.
UKBCCI will honour Mr Elahi at an event styled 'Business and Entrepreneur Excellence Awards-2019' in London on October 06, said a UKBCCI statement said.
In his reaction, Mr Elahi, also the founding chairman of Mutual Trust Bank and Grey Advertising Bangladesh, said such international recognition will make him more accountable to his work.
"I had received honour from the organisation before as well, but this year's recognition is special for me," the statement quoted the former adviser to a caretaker government as saying.
UKBCCI president Bajloor Rashid MBE said an estimated 800 guests, including UK lawmakers, will be present at the function.
UKBCCI is also honouring businesses and entrepreneurs under 12 categories.
Mishwar Clothing - Jahed Miah, The Innov8 Group - Jad Choudhury and Uji Matcha Energy Drink (Uji) are getting award under the best new business category.
Kazi Arif, Mohammed Ahmed and Zeaur Rahman are getting award for their contribution to industry.
'Businesswoman of the year' award goes to Dina Begum, Sarah Ali Choudhury and Tasmin Lucia Khan. Nazia Khatun, Prof Shafi Ahmed and Prof Parvez Haris will be awarded under the business innovation category.
'Young entrepreneur of the year' award will be conferred on Kazi Abidur Rahman, Rafael Choudhury and Shorif Uddin.
Kazi Arif, Mamunar Rashid Chowdhury and Shermeena Rabbi will get entrepreneur of the year award.
'Inspirational business leader of the year' award will go to Jad Choudhury, Shamimum Rahman Bashar and Siraj Ali.
Restaurant of the year award will go to Bombay Palace, Raj Garden and The Coriander.
Transcom Group chairman Latifur Rahman received the lifetime achievement award in 2017 and Rangs Group chairman Abdur Rouf Chowdhury in 2016.
