CEO and Managing Director of Sonali Bank PLC, Md. Shawkat Ali Khan has been appointed as the Chairman of Padma Bank PLC.
Md. Shawkat Ali Khan chaired the 120th board meeting at Padma Bank's head office in Gulshan on Wednesday, December 18, according to a media release.
Prior to joining Sonali Bank PLC, Mr. Khan served as Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB). Formerly, he also served as Deputy Managing Director of Rupali Bank PLC. With a distinguished career spanning 26 years, Mr. Khan is renowned for his vision, dynamism, commitment, and innovative ideas. His journey in the banking sector began in 1998 when he joined Rupali Bank PLC as Senior Officer.
Mr. Khan is highly experienced and motivated with a proven track record in the banking industry, showcasing strong leadership skills, strategic planning expertise, and excellent communication abilities to achieve organizational goals. During his extensive experience, he has refined his skills and demonstrated an exceptional ability to become an iconic leader and eminent banker.
Mr. Khan was awarded by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance for his dedication, contribution, and all-out cooperation for the formulation of Govt. Employee House Building Loan (GEHBL) Policy with the collaboration of all state-owned commercial banks.
Md. Shawkat Ali Khan completed Bachelor's and Master's degrees in chemistry from Jahangirnagar University and an MBA (Major in Banking) from Dhaka University. Moreover, he is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (IBB). He has participated in numerous training courses, seminars, and workshops both locally and internationally. He has a multidimensional experience through visiting countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.
In the board meeting of Padma Bank held under the chairmanship of Md. Shawkat Ali Khan, Janata Bank’s Managing Director Md. Mazibur Rahman, Agrani Bank’s Managing Director Md. Anwarul Islam, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Managing Director Md. Abul Hossain and also other directors Tamim Marzan Huda, Shahnul Hasan Khan, Independent Director AHM Ariful Islam FCA, Md. Rukunuzzaman (Barrister-at-Law) were present.
The meeting was conducted by Padma Bank Chief Executive Officer Kazi Md. Talha (Current Charge).
