Sonamasjid land port faces Tk 1.63b revenue deficit in FY24

Revenue collection at Sonamasjid land port in Chapainawabganj district failed to reach the target in the fiscal year 2023-24 (FY24) due to import impediments at the port.

According to local media reports, the government collected Tk 9.15 billion during the fiscal year, which is short of Tk 1.63 billion than the targeted amount of Tk 10.78 billion for the previous fiscal year.

The customs authorities blame the dollar crisis and poor infrastructure in and adjoining the port.

They said the import-export activities are being disrupted due to the dollar crisis.
