The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has increased the prices of edible oil, sugar, and lentil as it will begin sale of commodities through trucks from today (Thursday).
In the Dhaka and Chittagong, commodities will be sold through 50 and 20 trucks respectively.
Besides, the essentials will be sold in six other divisions through 620 trucks.
The sale drives will continue until June 03.
However, the prices of edible oil, sugar, and lentil for the TCB sale have been unusually hiked just before Eid-ul-Azha, with the edible oil price going up by Tk 35 per litre to Tk 135; sugar up by Tk 15 to Tk 85; and lentil up by Tk 20 per kilogram to Tk 80 per kg.
Smart card holder consumers can buy maximum 2 litres of edible oil, 2 kgs of lentil and one kg of sugar.
The TCB through dealers sells essential items like edible oil, lentil, sugar and rice at subsidised prices among smart card holder families.
