Team Group and Swisscontact entered into an agreement, aiming to enhance skills and productivity, with a particular emphasis on uplifting women within the readymade garments (RMG) sector.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) took place on the occasion of the International Youth day on Saturday on the premises of 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd, one of the LEED platinum-rated garment factories of the Team group located at Savar.
The partnership also underscores a commitment to implementing impactful environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, aligning with sustainable and responsible business practices, according to a statement.
This collaboration is anticipated to mark a significant milestone in promoting green skilling and the industry-based training (IBT) model within the country's RMG sector, it added.
Currently, Swisscontact, in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden, is actively implementing the Promoting Green Growth in RMG through skills (PROGRESS) project.
The programme began in October 2022 aimed to enhance job stability, raise earnings through better skills, and improve working conditions for a significant number of workers, with a focus on fostering enhanced productivity, bolstering environmental and social compliance within factories.
Maria Stridsman, Deputy Head of Mission, and Ikarmul Sohel, National Programme Officer at the Embassy of Sweden; Mujibul Hasan Cezanne, Country Director, and Syeda Ishrat Fatema, Team Leader at Swisscontact for the PROGRESS project; Abdullah Hil Nakib, deputy managing director of Team Group, and Md. Zahedul Hoque, Executive Director of 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd, among others, were present at the event.
