Trade through Benapole to remain suspended for four days

Trade through the Benapole-Petrapole will remain suspended for four days from October 22 as Indian Home Minister Amit Shah's scheduled visit to Petrapole, the Indian side of the land port facility.

Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the inauguration of a new passenger terminal at the Petrapole land port to make the movement of people smoother and end long queues.

To strengthen the minister's security system, trade through the Benapole-Petrapole will remain suspended for four days, said Kamlesh Saini, manager of the Land Port Authority.

Rashedul Sajib Nazir, Deputy Director of Benapole Port, said they received a formal letter from India regarding the closure.

However, normal trade activities through the largest land port in South Asia will resume on Saturday (October 26).
