UGC HEAT sub-project hosts seminar on Improving Academic Program Quality

A seminar titled “External Quality Assessment of Academic Program: Achieving Academic Excellence” was organised by the UGC–HEAT Sub-Project (PIN 12175) of the Department of Psychology at Jagannath University, Dhaka.

The program aimed to highlight the importance of external quality assessment in strengthening academic programs and ensuring excellence in higher education, according to a press release.

The seminar brought together distinguished academics and education experts who shared their insights on improving academic standards and maintaining quality assurance in universities.

Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Alim, Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Sciences at Jagannath University, attended the event as the Chief Guest. He emphasised the need for continuous evaluation and global standards in academic programs to enhance the overall quality of education.

The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Asoke Kumar Saha, SPM of the HEAT Sub-Project and a faculty member of the Department of Psychology at Jagannath University.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Abu Layek, Director of the Office of the IQAC at Jagannath University, who discussed the framework and significance of external quality assessment in academic development.

Among the Special Guests were Professor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin, ASPM of the HEAT Sub-Project; Professor Dr. Noor Muhammad, Member of the SPMT HEAT Sub-Project; Professor Dr. Muhammad Akram Uzzaman, Member of the SPMT HEAT Sub-Project; and Professor Dr. Fatema-Tu-Zohra Binte Zaman, Chairman of the Department of Psychology, Jagannath University.

They highlighted various strategies to improve teaching, learning, and research standards in higher education institutions.

The program was moderated by Dr. Kishor Roy, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology at Jagannath University.

The seminar concluded with a fruitful discussion among participants, focusing on the role of external evaluation in achieving sustainable academic excellence in universities.
