Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the commander of Iran’s armed forces, has appointed Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi as the new head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday.
The appointment came a day after Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the previous commander of the Aerospace Force, was killed in what Iranian officials described as an Israeli airstrike, according to Mehr.
General Hajizadeh, a senior figure in Iran’s military, was reportedly killed in the strike on Friday, which Iranian state media characterised as an “assassination” by Israel.
