Three days of debate and discussion

Mohammadpur Preparatory School and College(MPSC) hosted MPSC Nationals 2025 from October 09 to 11. Thirty-six teams from twenty-four institutions took part, including several from outside Dhaka. The three-day event brought together students to debate, exchange ideas, and test their arguments against one another.

After preliminary and knockout rounds, the final came down to Rajuk Uttara Model College and Maple Leaf International School. Both teams had performed consistently throughout the tournament. The final round showcased strong argumentation and clear thinking from both sides. Rajuk Uttara Model College won the championship, with Maple Leaf International School finishing as runners-up.

Professor M Tamim and Engineer Moshiur Rahman attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and the special guest respectively. Their remarks emphasised the value of debate in developing critical thinking and communication skills.

The tournament created space for students from different schools to connect. Participants spent time between rounds talking, sharing perspectives, and building relationships. The event included cultural elements such as traditional dress day, which added variety to the programme.

MPSC Nationals demonstrated what debate tournaments can achieve. They give students practice in constructing arguments, responding under pressure, and engaging with opposing viewpoints. These skills prove useful well beyond the debate circuit-in academic work, professional settings, and civic participation. UCB came on board as the title sponsor. The event was also supported by Tech Valley Solutions, the Financial Express, Shomoy TV, Kinley, Globe, ULAB, RETINA, KFC, Polar, Trimfit, Haribo, Petuk Ghor, and Nestlé and ATEL. These partnerships made it possible to run a smooth three-day tournament.

The tournament has finished for this year. The participants returned to their schools with experience, new connections, and perhaps a sharper sense of how to think through complex questions. That seems like a reasonable outcome for three days' work.
