A high-level delegation from the British Council on Thursday visited Daffodil Group to explore opportunities for collaboration in English language education, communication skills, employability and global workforce development across the group's education ecosystem.

The British Council delegation was led by Stephen Forbes, Country Director of British Council Bangladesh. Other members included Robin Clark, Chief Revenue Officer of the British Council in London; Talal Miee, Regional Business Development Director, English & Exams, South Asia; Tahnee Yeasmin, Director of Business Development, English & Exams, British Council Dhaka; and other senior officials.

Representatives from Daffodil International University (DIU), Daffodil International School (DIS), Daffodil Polytechnic Institute (DPI), Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) and Daffodil Foundation outlined their ongoing initiatives and plans to strengthen English language proficiency and global competencies among students.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed potential collaboration in English language and communication skills development, employability and workplace communication, professional and technical English for polytechnic students, teacher professional development, international best practices in English education, student career readiness and global mobility, English language certification pathways, and institutional collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The discussions placed particular emphasis on supporting students from technical and vocational education backgrounds by improving their English communication skills to enhance their competitiveness in both domestic and international job markets.

The participants also discussed the importance of developing graduates with strong communication, critical thinking and professional skills to meet the changing demands of employers worldwide.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr Md Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of Daffodil International University and Daffodil Group, said, “English communication is not only a language skill but also a gateway to global education, employability, entrepreneurship and international collaboration.”

In his speech, he appreciated the British Council's continued commitment to educational excellence and said he looked forward to exploring partnerships that would create more opportunities for students and contribute to Bangladesh's human capital development.

The British Council delegation also expressed appreciation for Daffodil's integrated education ecosystem, which includes early childhood education, school education, technical and vocational education, higher education, professional training and community development.

Both sides agreed to continue discussions to identify collaborative initiatives that would benefit students, educators and the wider community.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exploring future cooperation to support quality education, skills development and the preparation of globally competitive graduates.
