To encourage the country's youth to engage in innovative thinking and develop technology-driven solutions, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Daffodil International University has organized the ‘AI Innovation Hackathon 2026,’ themed “AI for Cluster Intelligence: Making Computers Faster, Cheaper, and More Reliable.”
The event was held today, July 25, 2026, at the Student Lounge of the university’s Knowledge Tower in Daffodil Smart City, according to a media release.
Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, Secretary of the ICT Division, attended the closing and prize-giving ceremony as the chief guest, while Ujjal Roy, President of the World AI Alliance and CEO of ScaleBuild AI, was present as the special guest and chief judge.
Presided over by the university's Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Masum Iqbal, the event was also addressed by Professor Dr. Md. Fakhre Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology.
Professor Dr. Sheikh Rashed Haider Noori, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Program Co-chair Dr. Farnaz Narin Noor; and Assistant Professors Md. Saiful Islam and Amit Chakraborty.
The primary objective of this hackathon was to bring together talented university students and alumni to develop innovative solutions for real-world problems using Artificial Intelligence (AI). It was an intensive 48-hour competition where selected teams built and presented their AI projects. The team 'Shadow Forge' achieved the distinction of becoming the champion; the team members were Abdullah Rubab, Md. Tanvir Hasan, and Sourav Kumar.
The 'Hello Purple' team emerged as the first runner-up; the team members are Md. Redwan Ahmed, Sraya Pramanik, and Munindranath Durjoy Saha.
The 'X-Tokened' team became the second runner-up, with team members Kazi Ferdous Jahan Yodarin, Md. Masrur Kabir, and Kazi Sajidul Islam Sabuj.
