North South University is experiencing a particularly active week, bringing together both prospective students and established graduates through two significant programmes. The Spring 2026 undergraduate admission test drew an exceptionally large turnout, whilst the School of Business and Economics is hosting the opening session of its Alumni Connect Series. Together, these events reflect the university's growing influence in shaping academic ambition and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
Record numbers compete for spring admission: More than seven thousand students sat for the admission test on November 29 for the Spring 2026 semester. Candidates came from across the country to compete for places in the Schools of Health and Life Sciences, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Business and Economics.
As the examination progressed, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury toured the halls and later addressed parents and guardians who had gathered outside. He thanked them warmly for their confidence in the institution, noting that North South University has established itself as one of the leading higher education providers in the country.
"Through our academic programmes that combine innovation with practical learning, we aim not only to prepare students for professional achievement but also to nurture graduates who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Bangladesh," Professor Chowdhury said, emphasising the university's commitment to providing world-class facilities.
Dr Nurul Kabir, director of the Undergraduate Admissions Office, described the examination as highly competitive, consistent with the university's longstanding reputation. He noted that whilst many students will earn the opportunity to enrol, others may not succeed on this occasion. However, he encouraged students not to be discouraged, explaining that those who fall short this round will have another chance to apply for the next semester.
Senior officials including Professor Abdur Rob Khan, treasurer and pro-vice chancellor, Registrar Dr Ahmed Tazmeen, and NSU Proctor Dr Abdul Khaleque were also present during the examination to ensure that the entire process was conducted smoothly and transparently. According to the Admissions Office, the results will be released shortly through the official university website.
Alumni return for Season Opener of Connect Series: Only days after the admission test, the School of Business and Economics, in collaboration with the Office of External Affairs, will welcome alumni to its Season 1 Alumni Connect Series to be held on December 2, 2025 at the Syndicate Hall. The event is designed to strengthen SBE's lifelong learning network and bring together alumni, academics, and students who share a commitment to continuous professional and personal development.
The season's first theme will focus on lifelong learning, a concept that encourages the ongoing pursuit of knowledge well beyond graduation. Discussions will explore the purpose of lifelong learning, its importance in a rapidly changing world, and the role that a connected alumni community can play in cultivating a learning society.
Another segment of the event will examine the skills required for business graduates to succeed in increasingly dynamic markets, with particular emphasis on soft skills, adaptability, and contemporary business understanding. The evening will conclude with dinner and networking amongst participants.
A week that captures NSU's broader mission: Together, the admission test and the Alumni Connect Series illustrate the breadth of NSU's academic community. The university is engaged not only in selecting the next cohort of promising students but also in maintaining strong ties with its graduates. The week's activities underscore NSU's position as a leading institution that promotes excellence, professional growth, and a culture of lifelong learning in Bangladesh.
