Labaid Cancer Hospital soft launches bone marrow transplant, cell therapy centre

Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre held the soft launch of its state-of-the-art Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and Cell Therapy Centre at an event on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s healthcare sector, according to a press release.
Claiming the initiative as an important advancement in oncology and haematology care in the country, the authorities said the initiative would facilitate the treatment of cancer and complex blood disorders.
The event was attended by Mr. Sakif Shamim, Managing Director of Labaid Cancer Hospital & Super Speciality Centre, as the chief guest. Also present were Dr. A.M. Shamim, Chairman; Mastura Farzana Mohona, Director; Dr. Suchit Kumar Das, CEO; Masud Ahmed, Chief Business Officer (CBO); senior officials of the hospital; and distinguished medical experts.
Managing Director Mr. Sakif Shamim delivered the welcome speech and expressed gratitude to the guests, physicians, and everyone involved. He spoke about Labaid’s long-term commitment to ensuring access to advanced technology and international-standard healthcare services in Bangladesh’s cancer treatment sector.
He described the new BMT & Cell Therapy Centre as a revolutionary addition to the country’s healthcare system. He emphasised that the centre, equipped with cutting-edge technology, world-class infrastructure, and highly experienced specialists, would set a unique benchmark in treatment services.
One of the major highlights of the event was a PowerPoint presentation delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Salahuddin Shah, who showcased the newly launched BMT Centre’s modern facilities, technological capabilities, and various patient-care services. He stated that providing international-standard bone marrow transplant services within Bangladesh would make treatment more accessible, affordable, and convenient for patients.
The Advanced BMT & Cell Therapy Centre at Labaid includes dedicated BMT units with highly controlled infection-management infrastructure, Autologous and Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant services, international-standard HEPA-filtered isolation cabins, and a multidisciplinary team of expert Haematologists, Oncologists, and Transplant Specialists.
The centre also offers advanced diagnostic facilities, including Flow Cytometry, FISH, Cytogenetics, and Molecular Testing. Patient-centred and personalised treatment plans will be provided for conditions such as leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and various complex blood disorders. In addition, the facility will ensure 24/7 critical care support, transfusion medicine services, international-standard treatment protocols, and rehabilitation services
