Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque has been appointed as the vice chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) recently.
The President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the chancellor of CUB Md Abdul Hamid appointed the fulbright scholar as the new VC on Thursday, according to a media release.
Prior to his appointment, Jahirul Haque served as the senior advisor to the board of trustees of Canadian University of Bangladesh for a period of almost one year.
Before joining CUB, he served as pro-vice chancellor from 2013 to 2017 and vice chancellor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) from 2017 to 2021 consequently.
Professor Jahir also earned an Award of Leadership Excellence from the Business and Applied Sciences Academy of North America (BASANA) in 2019.
He earned his PhD in Engineering from one of the most renowned universities in Ukraine, Kharkiv State Technical University of Radio Electronics in 2001.
He completed his post-graduation degree from the Cherkassy State Technological University on Technical Sciences (System Engineering) in 1995 where he also started his teaching career.
Professor Jahir has a strong track record in academics and administration alongside a reputation for being an innovative, efficient and visionary leader. Now his mission is to lead the Canadian University of Bangladesh to its next level of success, the release adds.
He has numerous publications on computer and engineering knowledge, published in both national and internationally recognised journals. His contribution to education and research is globally well recognised.
