In another major shake-up of the police ranks, the interim government has assigned 76 sidelined officials, including 10 deputy inspectors general (DIG), to new posts a little under a year after coming to power.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the development on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.

The reshuffled group includes 46 additional DIGs, 12 officers who were promoted from superintendent of police (SP) to supernumerary additional DIG, and seven other officials holding SP-level ranks.

Most of these officials were serving in various units under the previous administration and were assigned as officers on special duty (OSD) following the change in government in August last year.

As part of the latest reshuffle, DIGs Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman and Nurul Islam have been transferred to the Rangpur range. Miraj Uddin Ahmed, Moniruzzaman, and Elias Sharif have been posted to the Sylhet range, while Zakir Hossain Khan, Mohammad Shah Abid Hossain, and Jihadul Kabir have been sent to the Chattogram range. Mahbubur Rahman has been assigned to the Khulna range, and Moinul Haque and Mostak Ahmed Khan have been transferred to the Police Academy in Sardah.
