The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has warned that anyone attempting to create unrest or pose security threats on June 23, marking the founding anniversary of the banned Awami League (AL), would face consequences.
RAB-2 Commander Additional DIG Md Naimul Hasan issued the warning while responding to queries from journalists at a press briefing, held at the RAB-2 headquarters at Bosila under Mohammadpur in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
The briefing was held in connection with a series of recent RAB-2 operations targeting organised criminal groups and recovery of illegal firearms.
The RAB-2 commander said the law-enforcement agencies have already taken precautionary measures nationwide ahead of the day (June 23). The agencies are prepared to respond swiftly to any attempt to disrupt public order.
"All units of RAB have been instructed to remain on high alert ahead of the AL's founding anniversary, with intensified monitoring in key areas. If anyone tries to create instability on the day, he will be at risk. We will take necessary action to prevent any such attempts."
