Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has been shut indefinitely after outsiders attacked students demonstrating for a combined degree.
All students have been told to vacate the halls by 9 am on Monday, said Prof G M Mujibur Rahman, a member of the university syndicate.
University sources said the decision came from an emergency syndicate meeting held Sunday night.
Prof Rahman said the syndicate acted after considering the views of its members.
The administration has handed campus security to local law enforcement agencies.
