BNP wins all five parliamentary seats in Sunamganj

BNP candidates secured victory in all five parliamentary constituencies in Sunamganj district in the 13th national election.

In Sunamganj-1 (Tahirpur, Jamalganj, Dharmapasha and Madhyanagar), BNP candidate Kamruzzaman Kamrul won the seat with 161,774 votes, contesting with the party’s electoral symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Tofayel Ahmed Khan, who contested with the ‘Scales’ symbol, received 92,966 votes.

In Sunamganj-2 (Dirai and Shalla), BNP candidate Md Nasir Chowdhury was elected with 99,522 votes. His closest competitor, Jamaat candidate Mohammad Shishir Monir, secured 63,220 votes.

In Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur and Shantiganj), BNP’s Mohammad Qaisar Ahmed won the seat with 97,313 votes. Independent candidate Md Anwar Hossain, contesting with the ‘Lock’ symbol, got 42,226 votes.

In Sunamganj-4 (Sadar and Bishwambharpur), BNP candidate Nurul Islam secured 98,092 votes, defeating Jamaat’s Mohammad Shams Uddin, who received 75,736 votes.

In Sunamganj-5 (Chhatak and Dowarabazar), BNP candidate Kalim Uddin Ahmed won with 151,915 votes. Jamaat candidate Abdus Salam Al Madani bagged 102,121 votes.
