A man in Gazipur's Sreepur Upazila has allegedly killed himself by jumping under a train.
Before jumping, he wrote a post on Facebook saying: "Live a happy life, princess."
In another Facebook status, he wrote: "Sreepur Railway Station! Today, I’ll become a body mangled by a train."
The incident occurred around 6:30pm near the South Outer Signal of Sreepur Railway Station on Thursday, said Station Master Shamima Jahan. Rail Police recovered the body around 8pm.
The man was identified as 35-year-old Khairul Bashar Sujon, who hailed from Kursha village in Kushtia's Mirpur Upazila.
He lived in Chonnapara village in Sreepur and worked at a local garment factory.
Railway sources and locals said that parts Sujon's maimed body were scattered at the scene after the Dhaka-bound Dewanganj Commuter Train left the station.
Sujon's Facebook ID showed he posted two statuses seven hours before his death. In one post, he wrote, "Live a happy life, princess. You'll get the news of my death in a few hours"
In another one, he wrote: "I loved you a lot. But you didn't let me live."
Sujon's family said he lived in a rented house in Sreepur with his wife Mosammat Fatema. He left home in the morning. When Sujon did not return home late into the evening, his wife called him. Sujon told her he was at the Sreepur Railway Station.
After a while, Sujon called his wife and said, "Goodbye."
After that, she only heard the sounds of the train. She remained on the line for a long time, but didn't hear from Sujon again.
Sujon's relative Md Ashik said he went to the scene and identified the body. The family believes Sujon jumped under the train and killed himself. Ashik could not give any reason for Sujon's suicide.
