A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to issue a gazette notification summoning 100 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, in connection with six graft cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order following a petition filed by the ACC.
The cases were filed on charges of irregularities in the allocation of government plots under Rajuk's Purbachal New Town Project through abuse of power.
Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, who represented the ACC during the hearing, confirmed the court order to The Financial Express.
According to the order, the gazette notification will summon the former prime minister and the other accused to appear before the special court by July 20.
Salam said, "Investigation reports in five of the cases have been submitted, stating that the accused, including Sheikh Hasina, are absconding. The court had earlier set Tuesday for submission of a report on gazette publication in the remaining case."
"As the report was not submitted, the court ordered gazette publication in all six cases and adjourned the hearing until July 20," he added.
Earlier, the court had issued arrest warrants against all 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina.
On May 25, the court had fixed June 17 for submission of a report on the execution of those arrest orders. The ACC filed the six separate cases in January, accusing Sheikh Hasina, her family members, and several Rajuk officials of corruption in the allocation of government plots.
