The High Court on Tuesday summoned Rajuk Chairman for not implementing its earlier directive to submit a report over a plot dispute.

The Rajuk chairman will have to appear before the court on May 18 to explain his position over the issue.

The High Court bench of Justice Mahmudul Hoque and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder passed the order after hearing a contempt of court petition, said Deputy Attorney General KM Masud Rumi.

Lawyer Golam Rasul appeared in the court hearing on behalf of the contempt petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General KM Masud Rumi represented the state.

Lawyers concerned said Khalid Mahmud, a resident of Nikunja area of the capital, filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking remedy over a plot related crisis.

Following the writ petition, the High Court asked the Rajuk Chairman to submit a report regarding the plot. However, the Rajuk chairman didn’t submit the report in due time.

In this circumstance, Khalid Mahmud filed a contempt of court petition against the Rajuk chairman.  Upon hearing the petition the High Court summoned the Rajuk chairman.
