Authorities of the University of Dhaka (DU) have formed a seven-member committee to ensure a prompt and effective response to any disaster or emergency situation on the campus.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Office on Monday.

According to the statement, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfesani has been appointed convener of the committee, while Dr Mohammad Moniruzzaman Khan, director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, will serve as its member secretary.

The university also said that waterlogging at Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall has been cleared through the coordinated efforts of the university and hall administrations.

Electricity has been restored, and normal living conditions have resumed at both halls. The administration urged all concerned not to panic.

The press release further stated that all previously scheduled internal examinations of the university on Monday were postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Earlier, On Sunday evening, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam visited Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall to inspect the situation. He was accompanied by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Almojaddedi Alfesani, the provosts of the respective halls, and members of the university's proctorial team.
