Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain on Sunday said the government would not allow anyone to create anarchy in the country in the name of religion.

“People of all castes and creeds have been living in the country in harmony for ages. We believe that religion is for individuals, festival for all,” he said while addressing a discussion in Faridpur marking the Janmashtami, birthday of Lord Sri Krishna.

Faridpur district Puja Celebration Committee organised the discussion on Sridham Sree Angan premises and brought out a procession from there, said an official release here.

Faridpur district unit General Secretary of Bangladesh Mahanam Sampraday Srimot Biggan Bandhu Bramhachari presided over the discussion addressed by Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Omme Salma Tanzia, district AL President Subal Chandra Saha and Faridpur municipality Mayor Mahtab Ali Methu, among others, reports BSS.

Sri Krishna adored the mankind through his work and lifestyle, Mosharraf said, adding, “We believe that idealogy and lesions of Sri Krishna will further consolidate our communal harmony and bond of friendship and brotherhood”.

The minister called upon all to work together for achieving national progress and prosperity through strengthening the existing bond of harmony and fraternity in the country.
