Measles deaths: Petition to file negligence case against Dr Yunus, four others

A petition has been submitted to file a case of “negligence” against former chief adviser to the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus, former health adviser Nurjahan Begum, and three others over the deaths of children from measles.
Kishoreganj-5 MP Mujibur Rahman Iqbal filed the application in the court of Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam on Monday, bdnes24.com reports.
The plaintiff's lawyer, Salahuddin Laskar, said that the application for the case has been submitted, but a hearing has yet to be held.
In addition to Dr Yunus and Nur Jahan, former secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Md Saidur Rahman, former special assistant to the chief adviser Md Sayedur Rahman and former director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Md Abu Jafor have been requested to be named as suspects in the case.
