A group of students blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka on Wednesday evening, bringing traffic movement to a halt as they protested the continuation of HSC examinations amid inclement weather and errors in question papers.
The protesters took position at the intersection around 6:00 pm, chanting slogans and demanding the resignation of the education minister.
Earlier, following their previously announced programme, the students blocked the Science Laboratory intersection around 2:30 pm before marching towards the education ministry at the Secretariat.
Police stopped the procession with barricades near Shikkha Bhaban around 4:00 pm. The students remained there for about one and a half hours before moving towards Shahbagh, where they arrived around 5:30 pm.
“Our demand has now come down to one -- the resignation of the education minister,” said Rohan Hasnat Jihad, a student of Mirpur Bangla School and College.
“The minister, who has neglected the safety and concerns of students, must resign,” he added.
