The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased, identified as Riya, 20, had been admitted to Ward No. 802 of the building for the past five days.

Her father, Latif Mallik, said relatives of another patient alerted him around 3:00 am, saying his daughter was about to jump.

He rushed to the spot but was too late.

According to him, Riya ignored pleas from people nearby not to jump. She fell onto a parked private car below, suffering a fatal head injury.

She was taken to the hospital's emergency department, where doctors declared her dead.

Latif said his daughter had developed mental health problems after being unable to have a child following her marriage to a Bangladeshi man living in Singapore.

He said her condition had worsened over the past 10 days and she had been speaking incoherently, often asking where she was.

She had also been admitted with tongue ulcers and other health complications.

Riya's home was in Bhadurdangi village of Chartarapur Union in Pabna Sadar.

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the hospital's police outpost, said the body had been sent to the morgue for postmortem and Shahbagh Police Station would investigate the incident.
