The National Citizen Party (NCP) has accused Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal activists of attacking its march in Habiganj, injuring several leaders, including Sarjis Alam.
Several journalists' vehicles were also vandalised.
The incident occurred around 7:00 pm on Tuesday near the Town Hall, Habiganj Sadar Police chief Zahid Hossain said.
Police later rescued Sarjis, the party's chief organiser (north), and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary after they were surrounded during the incident.
