The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council has unveiled the list of 203 local players slated to participate in the players' draft, set to take place at a city hotel in Dhaka tomorrow.
The draft will lay the foundation for the upcoming BPL, scheduled to kick off in January next year.
The local players have been categorised into six groups, with the top-tier Category A offering the highest payment of Tk 80 lakhs.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the sole player in this elite category.
The breakdown of local players in each category is as follows:
- Category A: 1 player (Tk 80 Lakhs)
- Category B: 4 players (Tk 50 Lakhs each)
- Category C: 18 players (Tk 30 Lakhs each)
- Category D: 31 players (Tk 20 Lakhs each)
- Category E: 75 players (Tk 15 Lakhs each)
- Category F: 29 players (Tk 10 Lakhs each)
- Category G: 45 players (Tk 5 Lakhs each)
In parallel, the BPL has also enlisted 443 foreign cricketers, dispersed across six different categories in the players' draft. The overseas players can expect salaries ranging from USD 20,000 to USD 80,000.
Nasir Hossain is omitted from participating next BPL following an ongoing investigation by the International Cricket Council (ICC) into corruption charges levied against the player.
Nasir Hossain is one of eight individuals, including players, officials, and team owners, who face allegations of breaching the Anti-Corruption Code during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League.
