Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Sunday witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 7.19 points or 0.11 per cent to settle at 6,275.09. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also followed the same trend with 0.77 point up at 1,359.96. But, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 0.32 point down at 2,133.41.

At DSE, out of the day’s 299 securities, prices of 106 securities closed higher against 40 losing issues.

The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 4705.96 million which was Tk 4430.63 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were CRYSTALINS, United Insurance, Eastern Insurance, KBPPWBIL and Intraco while the major losing companies were FARCHEM, CAPITECGBF, RNSPIN, AMBEEPHA and EASTRNLUB.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend, with its major CSCX 2.46 points up at 11,111.41.

At the CSE, 146 issues were traded. Of those, 61 closed higher and 33 closed lower when 15.78 lakh shares worth Tk 60.5 million changed hands.
