The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved two procurement proposals worth about Tk 3.03 billion involving the import of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser and the purchase of sacks for the Directorate General of Food.

The approval came at a meeting held at the Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

The committee recommended approving a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture to import 40,000 (±10%) tonnes of MOP fertiliser under the 12th (second optional) lot of a state-level agreement between the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).

The fertiliser will be imported at a total cost of Tk 1.92 billion, with the price fixed at US$388.55 per tonne.

The committee also recommended approving a proposal from the Ministry of Food for the procurement of 16 million sacks, each with a capacity of 30 kg, through 80 packages under the electronic government procurement (e-GP) system for the Directorate General of Food.

The procurement will cost Tk 1.11 billion, with contracts to be awarded to 21 bidders selected across the 80 packages.
