The government has kept the fuel prices unchanged for August amid the volatility of oil prices in international market.
According to a notification of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) issued on Thursday, the retail price of diesel will remain at Tk 115 per liter, octane at Tk 145, petrol at Tk 140, and kerosene at Tk 135.
Previously, these prices were set through a similar notification issued on June 30, 2026 for July fuel prices.
Under the new decision, the current rates will remain effective from August 1.
Sources said, state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has been counting loss over the past several months since the Middle East war ensued on February 28 as it has been selling oil at lower prices in domestic market after importing the fuel at higher prices from international market.
Despite importing fuel at higher prices from international market, the government did not raise domestic oil prices until mid‑April.
The government kept the fuel prices unchanged to April prices in May but raised to current level in June.
