Local edible-oil refiners have cut the maximum retail price (MRP) of bottled soybean oil by Tk 10 to Tk 179 per litre from existing Tk 189.
The MRP of a five-litre soybean oil jar has been reduced by Tk 43 at Tk 873, reads a statement of the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association.
One-litre loose soybean price has been fixed at Tk 159 from Tk 167.
On the other hand, bottled and loose palm-oil prices per litre have been set at Tk 148 and Tk 128 respectively.
The new rates take effect across the country from today (Wednesday), according to the association.
On 11 June 2023, local edible oil refiners, as prescribed by commerce ministry, reduced the MRP of bottled oil by Tk 10 to Tk 189 per litre from Tk 199.
They also lowered the MRP of a five-litre soybean oil jar to Tk 920.
The MRP of one-litre loose soybean oil was set at Tk 167. Besides, the price of palm oil was adjusted to Tk 133 from Tk 135.
The latest adjustment step has been taken following a downward trend in prices in the global market, according to sources.
