The government on Thursday instructed all factory owners to pay festival allowances by May 21 ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
The directive came at the 95th meeting of the Tripartite Consultative Council (TCC) and the 24th TCC meeting on the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, held at CIRDAP in the capital.
Labour and Employment Adviser Ariful Haque Chowdhury announced the decisions after the meeting.
During the meeting, labour rights groups demanded that workers’ wages for May also be paid before the Eid holidays begin.
