Nagad, the mobile financial venture of Bangladesh Post Office, has received the 'Best Innovative DFS-2021’ award from UK-based Global Economics Ltd, one of the prominent global financial and bi-annual business publications.
Earlier in July 2021, Global Economics ltd declared Nagad as the winner of the "Best Innovative DFS Award". As a part of the announcement, the publication arranged an award ceremony on January 20 at Sangri - La Hotel, Dubai.
Representatives and delegates from all across the world attended the ceremony, reports UNB citing a press release on Saturday.
Faisal Choudhury, director of Nagad and K M Ayreen Aziz, head of Strategic Alliance received the award on behalf Nagad.
The Global Economics Awards aims recognising the best market players within their respective industry. The publication acknowledged and recognised Nagad, under the criteria of digital transformations in technological innovation through the 'Best DFS Award’.
Since its inception in March 2019, Nagad has been recognised for its innovative service across the world. Nagad's innovation - the electronic Know Your Customer (KYC)- was the first of its kind innovation in the country. The MFS operator has been relentless in its efforts to bring innovative and affordable digital payment options from the very begin of its journey.
Commenting on the Global Economics Limited Ltd Award, Nagad's Co-founder and Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk said, 'This award is a wonderful milestone for Nagad, as we have been working towards digitalising the country through introducing affordable innovative solutions for our customer, from the beginning of our journey. Hope Nagad will achieve more recognitions by the latest innovations."
Throughout the three-year journey, Nagad won numerous awards and recognition for playing pivotal role in pursuit of country's the Digital Bangladesh vision.
To name a few, In October 2020, Inclusive Fintech 50, a group of global organizations, selected Nagad as the best fintech start-up for 2020. Nagad won the World Information Technology and Services Alliance Global ICT Excellence Award 2020 as the first Bangladeshi MFS for its outstanding contribution in promoting financial inclusion. Nagad was awarded by the government for its role to building Digital Bangladesh at the Digital Bangladesh Fair 2020.
The MFS operator currently has 570 million users and a daily transaction volume stood at Tk 7.50 billion.
