Bangladesh Shines at the Open World Astronomy Olympiad with a Gold Medal

The 4th Open World Astronomy Olympiad concluded with the participation of 90 contestants from 20 countries, both in person and online.
A six-member team from Bangladesh proudly represented the country and brought home remarkable success. The Olympiad was organised by the Russian Ministry of Education and the Sirius Education Centre.
The international event was held on September 21, 2025, at Sirius Olympic City in Sochi, Russia. The closing ceremony took place on September 27, at the Sirius Conference Centre, in the presence of Professor Dr Oleg Malakhov and senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Education.
Bangladesh's achievements at the Olympiad are as follows:
Gold Medal, Md. Mokhdum Amin Fahim (Grade 10, Police Lines Secondary School, Jashore), Silver Medals, Saptarshi Rahman (A-Level, Heed International School, Dhaka) and Md. Radit Raiyan (Grade 12, Adamjee Cantonment College, Dhaka), on the other hand, won the Bronze Medal and went to Md. Zubayer Hossain Zisan (Grade 8, Rajshahi Collegiate School, Rajshahi).
The outstanding performance of Bangladeshi students has brought pride and honour to the nation.
Congratulating the winners, Shahpar Alam, Director of the Bangladesh Astro-Olympiad National Committee, said, "Our young students have made Bangladesh's name shine on the global stage. Their achievement will inspire the next generation to pursue science with greater passion."
