Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have staged a protest, rejecting the university administration’s decision to close the campus and order students to vacate their dormitories.

Students from residential halls brought out processions and gathered at the KR Market area of the university around 9:10 am today (Monday), chanting slogans such as “We haven't left the streets, we won't leave the streets.”

Hundreds of students joined the protest, while some female students reportedly began leaving the halls due to security concerns.

“This university and its halls are not anyone’s private property,” said one protesting student, who preferred to remain anonymous.

“Instead of ensuring justice for the attack on our peaceful movement by outsiders, the administration is forcing us to leave the halls. This intimidation will not stop our protest. We will continue until our demands are met.”

Meanwhile, several residential students claimed that the water supply to the halls has been cut off, adding to the growing tension on campus.
