Fresh concerns have emerged over the HSC examinations after English-version candidates alleged errors in the Biology Second Paper, days after a similar controversy over the chemistry exam.
The examination was held on Wednesday under nine general education boards.
Candidates claimed three multiple-choice questions in the English-version paper differed from the Bangla version and contained translation issues that made them confusing.
A similar issue surfaced on Jul 19, when an English-version creative question in the Chemistry First Paper was found to contain an inconsistency.
Notre Dame College student Tahmid Tajwar told bdnews24.com that Questions 15, 18 and 25 in Set 'G' of the English-version paper were flawed.
He said the mistakes appeared to stem from incomplete translation from the Bangla version and urged the education boards to award all English-version candidates marks for the three questions.
Tahmid said Question 18 omitted the word myopia, while Question 25 left out spermatid, making the question incomplete. He added that Question 15 also contained an inaccurate translation.
He said the errors left candidates confused during the examination and forced many to answer by guesswork before they later understood the intended questions by comparing them with the Bangla version.
Dhaka education board Secretary Prof Kamal Uddin Haider said the board had received complaints and experts were reviewing whether the alleged errors were genuine.
Examination Controller Prof Jesmin Taslima Banu said a six-member expert panel would submit its findings later in the day. If errors were confirmed, the boards would ensure English-version candidates were not disadvantaged.
