The Agrometeorology Department of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) held an orientation and a new intake of postgraduate students.

The orientation program was held on Tuesday (April 30) at 11:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Agrometeorology Department.

This year, 12 postgraduate students of BAU, including one from Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University, have been admitted to this Department.

BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury emphasized the role of agricultural meteorologists. He noted that weather changes cannot be prevented, but their adverse effects can be minimized. He mentioned that students admitted to becoming agricultural meteorologists will play a crucial role.

Shah Kamal Khan, director of the Department of Agriculture Extension's (DAE) Agro-Meteorological Information Systems Development Project, stated that the amount of cultivable land in our country is decreasing by 1% annually on average. The coordinator of the Committee for Advanced Studies and Research of BAU, Prof. Dr Abu Hadi Noor Ali Khan and Dr Md. Shah Kamal Khan was present as a special guest. Teachers and students from different departments of BAU were also present.
