"Crispy and golden on the outside, soft on the inside" —fries are not just potatoes cooked in hot oil; they're a staple side dish for almost every fast-food item. With any dipping sauce or seasoned toppings, fries are a crunchy proof of simplicity and the taste of comfort.
Some prefer the classic- thin cut, salted, crispy golden. Others like it cheesy with toppings and spices. Either way, it's the same old perfect bite of joy for potato lovers of all kinds.
On the busy streets of Dhanmondi, there is one eatery that focuses on just one item in its menu, French Fries. And with that in mind, Shera Fries started their journey with fries in playful shapes, a variety of dipping sauces, and much more!
Located in Jigatola, Dhanmondi, this is a must-try for every fries lover. The author, herself a fries lover, has hunted down the eatery and explored the spot right away to see what's all the hype about.
"There is no such place or outlet with the sole concept of selling only fries. So, we came up with this idea and started our business," the staff speaking about the idea behind their business.
Regarding the ambience, the place is small, with bright, bold lighting and colourful visuals that quickly grab customers' attention. The neon lights and playful decorations are easily spotted from a distance, even on busy streets.
They offer small, medium and large portions. Depending on the size you want, you can choose any of the nine dipping sauces. Watch those fries get crispy golden, along with your favourite sauce, garnished with coriander leaves and served in a decorative paper cone — piping hot and ready to devour!
The author has tried two different cuts — Curly and DesiCrisp Cut, medium portion — with 4 types of sauce, Bang Bang, Shera Sauce, Sour Cream and Onion, and Naga Mint. Both came in paper cones with colourful decorations, ready to eat while it's hot and crispy.
The curly cut is newly launched, and after eating it, the author immediately understood why everyone loves it. Because of its shape, it gets crisper on the outside and softer on the inside compared to the desi crisp cut.
You can add extra sauce for just 29tk. Also, they have an offer called 'Sauce Deal' where you can buy any four sauces for just 99tk.
When we asked about their best-selling cut, the staff told us the Curly cut is the most popular here. And speaking about the most demanding sauce, they said, "The customers prefer the Garlic Mayo more. Besides, Bang Bang, a tangy sauce, is the best-selling here."
The author spoke with some customers and asked them to review the concept, taste, and potential improvements. Mirza Zaid, a customer who had visited Shera Fries before, came here again. He liked the concept and stated it as 'good and unique.'
About the taste, he commented, "When I tried their fries for the first time, they had a good amount of saltiness. This time, I tried their curly fries with honey mustard and sour cream sauce. But, I felt like today it was more salty than before."
While asked about improvements, he suggested, "As the place is a bit cramped, they should work on making their space bigger. Besides being spacious, they should also have seating arrangements for the customers."
His friend, Ayan Haider, was a first-time customer there and agreed to share his experience. He has a similar opinion about the taste, but while talking about any room for improvements, he said, "The location is a bit loud and busy for me. It would be better if they improved this issue."
Their customisable sauce options let everyone try their different flavours. The restaurant opened a few months ago and is hoping to increase profits and attract more customers in the future. If you are a fries lover and want a quick evening snack, this can be the perfect little spot to hang out and grab a bite!
